Chicken wings are my favourite appetiser to order at restaurants. Although I have to admit, much as I enjoy them, there’s a slight guilt that accompanies that enjoymet because they are so easy to make. These honey barbecue wings come together easily and are finger licking good!

1 kg chicken wings - tips discarded. Drums and flats separated.
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
2 teaspoons garlic powder.
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/3 cup barbecue sauce
1/3 cup honey
1/3 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 medium sized onion - sliced
3 cloves garlic - minced
1 teaspoon sesame seeds and chives for garnish
Directions
Pat the wings dry with paper towels.
Preheat the oven to 200c
Spray a baking rack with cooking spray.
In a small bowl, combine the dry spices. Place the chicken in a medium bowl and sprinkle the seasoning blend. Mix thoroughly.
Place the wings onto the baking rack and place them into the pre heated oven. Bake for 40 minutes, turning them after 20 minutes. While wings are baking, prepare the barbecue sauce.
In a medium saucepan, add the unsalted butter. Heat until melted. Add the onions and cook until almost browned. Add the garlic and cook for another 2 minutes.
Add the barbecue sauce, ketchup and soy sauce. Stir to combine. Allow to simmer then decrease the heat to low, stirring occasionally for about 10 minutes.
When the wings have finished baking, place them into the saucepan with the sauce. Toss the wings until they are completely covered in the sauce.
Place the wings into a baking pan and return to the oven for another 8 minutes.
Remove from the oven and sprinkle with the sesame seeds and chives. Indulge!
